How I Like The (Early) Fall: A Playlist

Once again, I assumed there'd be no point to making a Spotify playlist to go with an album guide. Once again, I changed my mind. Making The Fall, pt. 1: Anthony's Album Guide led me to realize albums like Dragnet and Perverted By Language were more shelf-worthy than I remembered, and to discover that the pre-Brix era of The Fall doesn't have a strong summation out there the way 458489 ASides promotes the Brix biz. So here's a Hex Entroduction 3/4-Hour complete with LP sound-effect to split the sides. All studio albums from '79-'83 (all great) are represented, "The NWRA" ending Grotesque (After The Gramme) before it began A Part Of America Therein, 1981 with an on-stage introduction and capping banter worth including. Three of these eight tracks are live recordings, "Stepping Out" leading Virgin's Short Circuit - Live At The Circus compilation (released before the band's first single) and Language's "Tempo House" taken from a video recording of a Hacienda gig in '83 because they weren't satisfied with the studio take. (The way nerds sweat sound quality is not how The Fall did.)
Spotify sucks, buy physical media, support artist unions and the right to decide where and if your work streams. That said, if you accept we're in a late capitalist culture, have the app, and find the Fall's discography daunting, here's an easy way to slip into their finest phase. YouTube links in the track listing!

I'm not on Apple, cuz I don't see corporate monopoly as a relief from capitalist cruelty. Plus, the U2 thing. Any other questions and comments can be sent to anthonyisright at gmail dot com.
